Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir awarded Azerbaijan’s highest Patriotic War Medal

Azerbaijan’s First Deputy Defence Minister and Chief of General Staff, Colonel General Karim Valiyev, met Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at GHQ Rawalpindi.
During the meeting, Colonel General Valiyev awarded Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir Azerbaijan’s highest honour, the “Patriotic War Medal”. This recognition was for outstanding contributions to military cooperation between the two nations.
According to ISPR, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening brotherly ties with Azerbaijan. He also congratulated Azerbaijan on the successful completion of the peace agreement with Armenia. The Azerbaijani delegation praised the Pakistan Army’s professional excellence and achievements in “Battle of Truth” and “Operation Bunyad Marsous”.
The delegation extended warm wishes to Pakistan on its Independence Day and to Azerbaijan on its Victory Day celebrations. Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan’s solidarity with the people of Pakistan during challenging times. He also thanked them for the participation of an Azerbaijani contingent in the Independence Day ceremony.
On behalf of President Ilham Aliyev, Colonel General Valiyev presented the medal in recognition of exceptional military cooperation. He praised Pakistan’s sacrifices and role in the fight against terrorism. Both sides expressed determination to enhance collaboration in defence and security sectors.
